Ulrich Panzer is a German artist who shares his time between Berlin and his studio in Glenburnie, Ontario. His paintings are inspired by his continuous interest in the synesthetic perception of sound and musical chords, by observations of light in nature and by the colours of minerals and seashells.
The current series of round paintings derived from the artists’ previous series “spheres”. What was then a dynamic interplay of multiple colour circles and definition of space is now concentrated in one central form that radiates light and colour frequencies.
The paintings are inspired by the artists’ continuous interest in the synesthetic perception of sound and musical chords, by observations of light in nature and by the colours of minerals and seashells. Yet in the process of painting these references are transcended and develop a life on their own, and as such these works do nothing less than draw the viewer into the present tense of seeing.
