Artist Intention
The marble used for this sculpture has been waiting patiently in my studio for 20 years. In 2001, I collected marble blocks from the Ruby Lake quarry in Nipigon, Ontario, just east of Thunder Bay. My first attempt at sculpting marble was with this brittle and fractured stone, resulting in failure and lots of questions. This stone has been inspiring me ever since.
