Start/Completion date: 2015
Description:
Figurative/surreal sculpture of a European folklore witch. A pointing machine was utilized to copy the clay maquette on a 1:1 ratio.
Artist Intention:
The origin of the word night'mare' is to be visited by a nocturnal entity (Maere or Mora) during the night.
This piece represents the flowing black linen I observed during a sleep paralysis episode, which resulted in the feeling of dread. My encounter with Mora inspired me to create a tangible reminder to face your fears, and use that primitive emotion to compel you to a positive path.
